PROJECT INITIATOR’S DESK

MESSAGE FROM PROJECT DIRECTOR – ABLERT FREEMAN-AIKINS

Following the institution of food production and job creation by the Government, i foresaw the need for a podium where there would be intense advocacy for the youth to participate actively in agro based business ventures. I strongly believe every school is obliged to have a school garden and school as part of the capacity building and skills development in agriculture for youth and thus  means of inculcating gardening and agriculture into the lives of the youth whilst in school is really a mission been pursued. In the process, garden competitions would be initiated and awards instituted to outstanding students. There is a strong need to encourage, motivate and celebrate farmer day for the young ones and not just the aged or wait till December before such occasions and this model is an exclusively life transforming way of doing so.

Moreover we intend organizing students from tertiary to primary schools for industrial attachments/internships as well field trips to help the youth gain exposure, experience in the skills development and capacity building process, thus providing job opportunities and wealth creation to help reduce the numerical strength for unemployment.

In the future, we are pursuing to have an agric resource center for fresh graduates  agric entrepreneurs and students visit as through our support podium models inculcate and instill a sense of enthusiasm for agribusiness in them.In the nutshell we have formed and mobilized  corperative within farmers and youth in the Akyem Abuakwa south Constituency  to work together and liaise for partnership and support from banks, funding organizations and agric industries to help grow their businesses.

Finally, food production equates to the fact that a high production good yield is needed. This has led to our project on seed and seedlings banking which is a pre-requisite for high agric yield. Due to our passion and focus to produce organic products, composts are used in our seed and seedlings project supplied freely by Dr. James Orleans -Lindsay(Chairman/ CEO of JL PROPERTIES). We strongly believe that  creating seed banks in bid to check hunger and environmental degradation in Ghana whilst creating employment for the youth in rural and perri-urban areas would be succesfully acheived with your support in every form  as well.
